WANA (Nov 26) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that the relations between Iran and Russia are built on a solid foundation of friendship, stating that no one can create a rift between the two countries. He highlighted that their partnership encompasses “security and defense domains.”

Andrey Rudenko, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, stated: “Iran, as an independent nation, has the right to pursue its foreign policies as it deems fit. For our part, we recognize that the relations between Russia and Iran are firmly rooted in friendship and neighborliness. Despite the malicious attempts of our adversaries, no division or discord will emerge between our two countries.”

He pointed out that senior Iranian officials, including those who recently met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, have assured him of their readiness to strengthen a broad range of ties and to advance mutually beneficial bilateral projects in line with the strategic direction set by Iran’s leadership.

Rudenko also announced that Russia and Iran have finalized a draft treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership and are set to sign it in the near future.

Highlighting the inclusion of security and defense in their partnership, he remarked: “I will not disclose details in this regard, but I want to emphasize that this partnership addresses nearly all challenges and requirements of our time across various fields of cooperation between Russia and Iran.”

Referring to a similar document signed in 2001, the Russian diplomat noted: “The nature of our interaction has significantly evolved over the past two decades, gaining completely new dynamics and qualities. We are closely coordinating approaches with our Iranian friends and taking necessary steps to enhance peace and security.”
